More than just 2 moving dots!
The watchface of Moon has a multi-layered appearance. The little “moon” dot also carries a dark gradient underneath it, which drops a shadow onto the bigger circle (earth) wherever the moon moves to. That means when the moon is close to earth (for example at 12 o’clock), earth will be less visible than when it’s on the opposite side of it (for example at 12:30).
